About the Writer

Emily Paulsen has written about health and healthcare topics for consumers as well as healthcare professionals and administrators. Her special interests are patient education, health information technology, health disparities, complementary medicine, and improving the healthcare experience for patients and professionals alike. She has experience developing articles, fact sheets, toolkits, case studies, research summaries, and continuing medical education (CME) materials. Her clients include trade publications, health organizations, nonprofit associations, and government agencies.

In addition to her experience as a freelance writer and editor, Emily served as public relations manager of a progressive rural health system in Northeastern Pennsylvania and as editor of several trade magazines for healthcare professionals.

Emily currently lives just outside Washington DC and is a member of the National Association of Science Writers, Association of Health Care Journalists and the American Society of Journalists and Authors. She is president of the American Society of Journalists and Authors.
